The University of Derna is a scientific body established by a decision of Mr. / Secretary of the General People’s Committee No. (858) for the year 1994 in the city of Derna, and it was called the University of Derna. Before this date, the city of Derna included three university colleges affiliated to Omar Al-Mukhtar University, and they were opened in the academic year 1991/1992, which are colleges (economics and accounting / architecture and arts / medical technology). The University of Derna is independent, has a legal status, and is financially and administratively independent. It is called the University of Derna. A number of faculties in the city of Tobruk have joined it, namely (Arts / Engineering), and (College of Arts / College of Law in Derna).
