Libyan Petroleum Institute (LPI) formerly known as Petroleum Research Centre (PRC) was established in 1977 as the technical arm of the National Oil Corporation (NOC).
Therefore, LPI consists of over 40 laboratories specializing in different branches of the petroleum sector (upstream & downstream activities) and employs more than 400 competent personnel whom twenty five percent of them have professional and academic degrees in order to provide high quality Laboratory testing services and technical studies in the fields of exploration, reservoir exploitation, oil and gas processing, geological & geophysical data management and a wide range of services in environmental monitoring.
In addition to the technical departments, the LPI as shown in the organization chart, consists of four supporting departments working together to achieve LPI goals.
In order to provide high quality services to our customers, the LPI granted ISO 17025 which guarantees and increases the accuracy and reliability of the tests and calibration, and also committed to documenting, implementing and maintaining a quality management system based on ISO 9001:2000.
