Sebha University جامعة سبها

Sebha University is located in the city of Sebha, the largest city in southern Libya, at a distance of a few kilometers from Sebha International Airport. The university was established initially by the Faculty of Education in the city of Sebha as a branch of the University of Tripoli in 1976 AD, which later became the nucleus of the first Sebha University. At the beginning of 1983 AD, Resolution No. 187 of 1983 AD was issued by the former General People’s Committee regarding the opening of Sebha University as an independent university in the city of Sebha. At the beginning, it included the faculties of Education and Science, and with the passage of time, many faculties were opened according to the needs of the region.

Where it initially included the faculties of education and science, then the faculties of human medicine, agriculture, engineering and technical sciences, economics and accounting joined it, until the number of university faculties reached twenty distributed over the different regions of the south, one of which is outside the country. It currently includes more than 25,000 male and female students, more than 1,300 faculty members and 3,500 employees, in addition to 9 research centers distributed over the geographical area of the southern region. The university regularly organizes scientific and sports activities, exhibitions, scientific conferences, awareness seminars, training courses, and evaluation of scientific research in local and international scientific journals.
