Fezzan University جامعة فزان

Fezzan University was established with the aim of contributing to accommodating the increasing number of students from various regions of the vast Libyan south, in order to prepare and qualify highly qualified scientific cadres capable of participating in local development and also able to compete in the labor market. It also aims for this educational institution to contribute to serving the local community in a way that supports security and stability in the Libyan south in general and the border areas in particular.

The establishment of the university goes back to the decision of the General People’s Committee (formerly) No. 535 of 2007 AD regarding the reorganization of universities and higher institutes, which stipulates the establishment of Al-Wadi University, followed by 8 colleges distributed geographically between the cities of Murzuq, Ubari and Ghat, and that decision was reinforced by the issuance of the Council of Ministers Resolution No. 138 For the year 2017 AD regarding the establishment of the University of Fezzan, which is based in the city of Murzuq and includes 8 faculties. The Faculty of Nursing and the Faculty of Supervisory Engineering were also added according to the Minister of Education of the Government of National Accord No. 1544 of 2018 AD regarding the addition of faculties to the University of Fezzan.
